What inspired you to pursue a career in behavioral health?
I have been a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 28 years. My path into this work was shaped by personal tragedy—losing my spouse to suicide during the 2008 economic crash. Like many others struggling with addiction, he lost himself in the pursuit of success and material things. When it all collapsed, he could not see a way forward.
That experience broke me—but it also built me. Through that dark night, I found my voice. I now stand for those who suffer in silence. In a world chasing pleasure, I speak for the people in pain. In a society rushing ahead, I advocate for those left behind. Where others see dollar signs, I speak to the value of human life. Recovery gave me a purpose, and I live it out loud. My greatest accomplishment is choosing, every day, to make meaning out of what nearly destroyed me—and to walk beside others on their healing journey.
Approaches or Modalities
I take a psychoeducational approach grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), emphasizing the neurological and emotional commonalities between trauma and addiction. I enjoy introducing clients to the science behind their experiences—especially how PTSD and substance use are connected—and encourage them to explore these insights further with their therapists. I believe in empowering clients with knowledge, curiosity, and a structured path toward healing.
